The conference will be the 6th Plenary of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), which is being held for the first time in the Americas, the Medellin Convention & Visitors Bureau said in a communique.

The event, to be held March 13 – 15, 2018, in Orlando, Florida, will be uniquely focused on building mosquito control capabilities in local jurisdictions.

The aim of the conference is to promote debate on all issues relating to the science and management of aquatic vegetation, and will include a wide scientific programme.

The workshop results will feed into a ‘best practice’ report, to be produced following the event, summarizing these challenges and opportunities and making key recommendations for effective knowledge transfer.
